Ian Culligan

Ian is the Head of Health & Environment Insight at Bupa, where he is responsible for shaping and delivering Bupa’s sustainability ambitions at the intersect between people and planet health. In support of the global healthcare organisation’s Net Zero 2040 commitments, Ian works closely with sustainability colleagues and clinical teams around the world - from Hong Kong and Australia to Spain and the UK - to drive the business and sector transition towards sustainable healthcare.

He has previously held a number of senior clinical and commercial roles across Bupa, where his highlights include the launch of an award-winning Cancer Direct Access service and the successful negotiation of multi-million pound hospital provider contracts. Ian is also a qualified Physiotherapist with over 10-years clinical experience, and prior to joining Bupa he worked as a Management Consultant at PA Consulting where he led a number of Healthcare and Digital Transformation programmes. He has held a variety of Executive Committee posts with professional bodies and has been a regular contributor to national publications and healthcare initiatives including the Taskforce for Lung Health.

Away from Bupa he spends as much time as possible outdoors – running, cycling, skiing, training for events such as ‘Tough Mudder’ and ‘Ride for their Lives’, or simply walking in the nearby Peak District / Snowdonia with his wife and two children.
