Shalini Garg began her research career as a doctorate fellow at AMCHSS under the guideship of Prof. V Raman Kutty. She was awarded a doctorate degree in Health Sciences from the SCTIMST, Trivandrum in 2020. She worked in academic and editorial capacities for a short duration before joining as the Editor-in-Chief of The Lancet Regional Health -Southeast Asia in early 2022.
