Audrea Burns

Associate Professor
Baylor College of Medicine

Dr. Audrea Burns is the Co-Director of the Health Professions Education Certificate Program at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. She is also an Associate Professor and Departmental Ambassador for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Baylor College of Medicine. Her educational research has focused on best practices in supporting professional identity formation and developing novel frameworks to center the construction of professional identity in principles of social justice for health professions trainees.

Dr. Burns also serves as the Associate Program Director for the Pediatric Residency Program at Texas Children’s Hospital and is a national thought leader in developing training models to support the development of physician-scientist trainees. She completed her graduate studies in Immunology at The University of Chicago, in Chicago, Illinois, and her postdoctoral fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) in science education pedagogy. Dr. Burns completed the Master Teachers Fellows Program for Medical Educators at Baylor College of Medicine.
